What is Cocktails and Conversation?
Often people come to AIHce and wish they had an opportunity to connect with others who share a common interest in a particular topic. Cocktails and Conversation gives people a place and a purpose to gather, meet each other, and talk about a topic or subject of interest. We give you a time and place where you can meet for drinks (cash bar) and discussion.
Where do we meet?
There are 10 different discussion topics, taking place on Monday, May 23 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the following locations:
| Topic | Hotel | Location |

| Risk Management | Royal Sonesta | Explorers on level 2 |
| Occupational Exposure Limits | Hyatt Regency | Bistro 300 bar on Level 3 |
| IEQ/IAQ | Lord Baltimore | Lobby Bar |
| Personal Protective Equipment | Days Inn | Restaurant Bar |
| Sampling & Analysis | Renaissance Harborplace | Watertable Bar, level 5 |
| Engineering Controls & Ventilation | Baltimore Harbor Hotel | Balto Tavern, lobby level |

What do we do when we get there?
AIHA staff will not be there, so you will have to be the one to get things started. If AIHce attendees are already there, introduce yourself and ask if they’re there for Cocktails and Conversation. If so, then ask them what their interest is in the topic, and see where the conversation takes you. Should you see someone standing alone, walk over and say hello and invite them to join in a discussion. If no one has shown up by 6:15 pm, please feel free to depart.
Consider some of the following questions to get the ball rolling:
- What’s the top issue you are dealing with in [the topic area]?
- How do you think [the topic area] is changing or will change the practice of IH over the next five years?
- What interests you about [the topic area]?/Why did you choose to join this topic of conversation?
What about the cocktails?
It’s a cash bar, so people are responsible for their own drinks.
How long do we stay?
We have space reserved in the bar until 7:00 pm, but if you’re enjoying the people you’re talking to, why not suggest that you all get dinner together. It’s totally up to you—just relax and have a good time!
What are the responsibilities of the Committee in charge of this topic?
Collect business cards from everyone in attendance, put them in an envelope, and drop the envelope off at the AIHA information desk or the AIHA booth on the expo floor.
