How Many Times You’ve Attended AIHce: Once (AIHce 2015 in Salt Lake City)

What Do You Hope to Gain from Attending AIHce 2016:

  1. Exchange and learn from other colleagues
  2. Be aware of the challenges that other colleagues encounter in various settings
  3. Be exposed to the latest IH techniques
  4. Receive feedback from other colleagues on my research

Why Do You Think AIHce is the Best Conference for a Student/Intern: AIHce provides an open platform for students/interns to learn from colleagues with diverse educational and vocational backgrounds, such as professors, industrial hygienists, and other student peers. According to my precious experience by attending the AIHce in Salt Lake City, I believe that you will be exposed to a broad array of hot topics, brilliant new ideas, newly-developed instruments, and the latest IH techniques at the conference.

If You Could Have Lunch with One Presenter from the Meeting, Who Would It Be? Why? Michael Ellenbecker. I am very interested in the topic The Challenge of Setting Occupational Exposure Limits for Engineered Nanomaterials. As Dr. Ellenbecker mentioned that “currently-available instruments to count and size nanoparticles are expensive, large, and difficult to use in the field”. I am currently working on developing a personal aerosol collector and spectrometer (PACS) which can measure particle size distributions of number, surface area and mass concentrations in a wide range (from 10nm to 10 µm). In addition, our PACS can be situated in a backpack. I really would love to hear his advice. It would be my great honor if I could have lunch with him from the meeting.

How Many Times You’ve Attended AIHce: This will be my second year.

What Do You Hope to Gain from Attending AIHce 2016: As a recent graduate at conference this year, it will be nice to network with young professionals and attend sessions that apply to my internship opportunity.

Why Do You Think AIHce Is the Best Conference for a Student/Intern: There are so many opportunities for students to network with professionals, gain experience with public speaking, and present current research to a crowd of like-minded individuals.

If You Could Have Lunch with One Presenter from the Meeting, Who Would It Be? Why?: I would choose last year’s opening session speaker – Alison Levine. Her story was so inspirational and she is a great role-model and leader for young women.

If You Could Meet One Celebrity, Who Would It Be?: I think a girls’ day with Jennifer Lawrence would be so fun! She is a strong young woman, hilarious, and is involved with many charities… and hopefully she would introduce me to Adele. They are both class acts and seem to really embrace life!

Favorite App: Snapchat – it’s a fun way to stay in contact with my friends and family.

Favorite Movie: Tie between Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club

Coffee or Tea: Depends on the time of day. I love a cup of coffee in the morning and hot tea in the evening.

Salty or Sweet: I have to go with salty, unless it is my Mom’s delicious desserts!
