Presenter: J. McGlothlin, Purdue University, Grand Rapids, MI.

Because of the high-profile and publicized stories about laboratory incidents involving anthrax, Ebola, and avian influenza, this crossover session will highlight the emerging challenges of adverse laboratory incidents being faced today. One of the areas highlighted will be the range of intervention and prevention strategies using the principles of ergonomics to identify patterns of exposure. The goal of this session is to have a better understanding of the rapidly evolving nature of work in the laboratory and the role that ergonomics can play to prevent adverse health and safety outcomes.
