Tech Tour: Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics LaboratoryAPL solves complex research, engineering and analytical problems in diverse programs that focus on protecting our homeland and advancing the nation’s vision in research and space science. This tour provides a look at the Space Department operations related to satellite production and evaluation, including vibration and thermal testing areas. In addition, the visit will include a tour of the Biomechanics Test Facility which conducts testing to determine the human body’s injury mechanisms and tolerances under hazardous conditions, and a tour of the Composite Materials Lab which develops and fabricates products using advanced polymeric composite materials and adhesives. Participants will learn about health and safety efforts and unique industrial hygiene challenges throughout these areas of the laboratory.
